BOTANICAL EDEN
Mariska Karto’s botanical work is a tribute to the botanical dreamy world, a world with two faces in her rotten and surreal collection.
(Fun fact regarding her rotten collection: the photographer spent weeks going through her family’s trash, letting material rot in her studio, resulting in a pungent smell that only disappeared after two months.)
About her trees:
Nature is a subject that brings many people to emotions and inspires them. It also does the same for me, as nature provides aesthetic harmony, simplicity, and authenticity in a world dominated by technology.
Additionally, nature holds a symbolic meaning in my work. Emotions, transience, and the connection between nature and humanity are themes I strive to express in my art.
